Teflon tape is the answer. Get a pipe wrench or channel lock pliers and a rag or cloth. Put the cloth under the wrench and turn the shower head counter clockwise to remove it.
Then put three rounds of Teflon tape in a clockwise manner. Keep the tape tightly wound. You can buy Teflon tape at most any hardware store for 1-2 dollars.
Finally, put the shower head back on with the pipe wrench and cloth.
