Safety is the number one priority of a handicapped shower stall. First, you should consider that it is safer than a tub because it is easy to get in and out of. A good handicapped shower stall can be walked into without needed to go over bumps of any kind. Grab Bars Heavy duty and well placed grab bars are a necessity. They should be large enough that the hand can easily grasp and grip. Look for grab bars that will be easy to hold onto when wet. They should also be placed low enough that they can be reached easily. Shower Chair Stability is important so that a shower chair should be attached to the side of the shower wall. Some people may just have their own shower chair they keep in the shower. This chair makes it safer because you don’t have to worry about slipping and falling. Flexible Shower Head A flexible or handheld shower head should be close enough that you can reach it sitting down. You can bring the water closer to you and have more control. This is necessary when showering in the sitting position. Grip Mats or Grip tape Slips and falls should utmost be avoided. Grip tape and grip mats will make the shower more safe.
