Tankless Water Heaters

Tankless water heaters are small (about the size of a suitcase) and are a good choice for your home outdoor shower.  They save energy because they only heat the water as it is used.  Another advantage of tankless hot water is that you don’t run out of hot water.

Tankless hot water heaters haven’t been around long enough for contractors to assimilate them effectively.  You may need to shop around to find a qualified/experienced plumber.

Propane

Portable outdoor showers run on propane. They heat the water quickly and make a hot shower in the outdoors totally accessible.

Electric or Gas Hot Water Heater

Most hot water heaters are rated to last for six years.  However, they usually last much longer.  When they start leaking it is usually time to replace them.  Gas hot water heaters heat the water faster and less costly than electric water heaters.

Solar Water Heater

Solar panels can be the engine that drives your regular hot water heater.  Make sure to get enough panels that the water will get enough energy on mildly sunny days.  Solar water heaters have a high front end cost, but are better for the environment.
